Speaking of Abraham Lincoln, this guy has been the 16th president of the United States of America back then. His term lasted for four years, from 1861 up to his assassination on Good Friday in 1865. Honest Abe, as many called him, led the US through a great constitutional and civil crisis. He also preserved the Union, ending slavery among the States, and promoting economic and financial modernization. Abe came from humble begging, being born on a log cabin and reared by a poor family. He educated himself gradually until he grew up. Later he became a country lawyer, a state legislator, a member of the House of Representatives, a senator, which led to the Presidency. This unique take on the famous president was based on the novel with the same title, written by Seth Grahame-Smith. This is isn’t your ordinary textbook history. It’s history with a nice little twist. As quoted from his book “Some people, Abraham, are just too interesting to kill”. This was said by a teenage vampire who saved Abe. When he was younger, Abe found out that his mom saw assassinated by a vampire which later he swore revenge to those who killed her. Later, Henry Sturges, the young boy and vampire who saved him on his early carrier, steered the president into killing the undead and protect those who are in power. They are both determined to prevent the US from being taken over by their kind – vampires. Lincoln was used as Sturge’s assassin, giving the future President with the complete name and location of the vampires to be disposed. Although the movie was based on the life of Honest Abe with an amazing fiction spin to it, it was entertaining enough. Seeing the 16th President slay vampires with an axe was awesome. The effects weren’t that bad either. Cinematography was great and it even went beyond expectations.
